The Art of Kintsugi: Art of Beautiful Repair
Kintsugi, is the Japanese refine of repairing broken pottery with powdered gold. It is built on the concept that in embracing beauty flaws and imperfections, you can produce an even more vital and nicer piece of art. Kintsugi also is known as “golden repair”. It often makes the fixed piece even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with a new look and giving it a second life.
The craft rests on the philosophy of “wabi-sabi” (In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi is a world view centered on the beauty of imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete, which entireties up as the conviction in “accepting the impermanence of our life and our environment.”
In our living, everyone wishes to find perfection in lives. We will dream of an ideally harmonious relationship, good work, a happy family, wealth, and perfect life. However, life is unpredictable and tends to have a habit of dealing us with a range of surprises and leaving nothing much of this array of fine dreams save some shattered and worthless fragments. It’s the time that we might turn our minds to a concept drawn from kintsugi, the art of beautiful repair.
